Just Keep Swimming! and Baby bjorn

So....you know on Finding Nemo where Dory keeps singing, Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming? The moral being, just keep going and eventually it will get better, and you'll find Nemo. This has been my mantra for the past.....WHILE. JUST KEEP SWIMMING! It will get smoother....it will get better. I've had the same job for the past 3 years, and go figure it has never been this crazy busy until I'm pregnant, trying to get ready for a baby, and Chad is trying to look for full-time work next year. Sometimes I wish I could turn off my emotions....and be Data from Star Trek....meaning, have no emotions...and yes, I can't believe I made a Star Trek reference....holy dorkus.....but I honestly haven't watched Star Trek in years, since I was about 10...but I still love Patrick Stewart....no one wears bald so well. Anyway.......for now, the plan is....just keep swimming, and we'll be just fine.

QUESTION.....help.....need advice....need expertise regarding baby carrier thingies.

I know I need one of those baby carriers, for my job, and also cuz I like to get out and go places. I know I will use it A LOT! So, I've been looking around, and am totally clueless. Obviously, the Baby Bjorn is famous for being fabulous....but why is it $80 when other carriers that are similar are $30? Is it worth the investment? What about Snugli, or Infantino carriers? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I will give a better update later.....sorry....don't be hatin'.

Well we have the baby bjorn and love it. I think it is more expensive because it is made better and has adjustments as baby grows.

I think baby carriers are great, although I really didn't use mine a ton with my first baby. I hear I'll use it more with my second...we'll see.

Anyway, I have a snuggli and it worked great for me. My friend just made me a sling, and I hear those are great too, so I'll let you know about that. I think any baby carrier would be fine though.

A Baby Bjorn is at the TOP of my list for when we have another one. I was given another brand and only got to use it a couple times before I accidentally closed the car door on one of the plastic snap closure things which left it USELESS! SO frustrating, but it was not really what I was looking for in the first place. It was a pain to use and put on and get Ethan in. Plus the fabric was HOT. Ethan and I were both sweating by the time I would take it off. Anyway, when it comes to that time, I'll probably shop around just to be sure, but ultimately I think I'm gonna spend the big $$ and just get the bjorn. This probably doesn't help much, but there ya go! :)

OK so i've had a Baby Bjorn and a Snugli and the off brand one. Both the Bjorn and the off brand broke before they should have and the Snugli works great and is easy to use. My advice go Snugli.

I purchased the Infantino carrier simply because I couldn't afford the Baby Bjorn. I loved it when Elijah was a small infant. He was ALWAYS in it! I did all of my cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, and dog park excursions with him in it. It is great because it hides the baby's face so that people often didn't know that he was in it- get used to people sticking their faces in your baby's face! (Elijah was 8 weeks early and couldn't get sick, so germs were a big deal) If you want to save money, go with one of the cheaper ones!

K so when is your baby due? Have you decided on a definite name yet? Oh and yes ppl will stick their faces and hands on your baby but you have the right to tell them to back off!

I have the Maya pouch and I love it. I hear the Maya wrap is great because it's a lot more versatile than a lot of carriers and you can use it a lot longer.

You sound pregnant. Tired, exausted, annoyed, hopeless. (I'm with my sister right now who is pregnant!) Soon, the baby will be out, soon you won't have to work, soon, you will JUST be a stay at home mommy. I wish I could take the anxiety or annoyance, out of your life! I love you, and can't wait for the baby!

When you put "baby bjorn" I thought you had changed the name to bjorn, i was thinking... "Oh jessica..." hahah. And then I read-

Hi Jessica. I was looking St kims blog and saw your name and just wanted to see how you were doing. My mom told me you were pregnant. Anyway, I had a snugli with jaden and I used it once because it took forever to get it situated. With natalia my mom got me an infantino and I love it. Its so easy to use and she snugles right up in it. I would take her with me to teach and I could get so much done with her in it. Its also way comfortable.

baby bjorn is awesome! but you can find them on craigslist much cheaper. the fabric is higher quality than the knockoff brands. I got a bjorn on craigslist for $15 & it is really awesome, I took back the snugli one I got at walmart because it was twice as much & the fabric just felt cheap.

if you get a bjorn though try & get the "active" model with lumbar support. it can hold a bigger baby & is more comfortable. I have seen those for $50 on craigslist.

I used a snugli carrier a ton with my first. I thought it kinda complicated to maneuver baby into and out of but it felt really secure. It still looked in new condition after a lot of use. I really liked it but then I haven't used anything else. I just wanted something with buckles and such verses wrapping.

ergo baby... that is the name brand of the baby carrier I borrowed from my rich friend. It was AMAZING (and Claire loved it too) It seriously felt like I wasn't even holding Claire at all, and I could have had her in there for hours without being bothered. I bought a cheap one at a garage sale (since I don't have the money to invest right now) it kinda stinks. It is 'infintino' or something. Now- it wouldn't be too bad if I didn't know now AMAZING the other one was. I can only hold Claire in mine for like an hour before it starts hurting my back and shoulders. So- if I had the money to buy a nice one and knew I would be using it a lot- I would totally invest in an ergo baby. It had ALL the cool extras and was SOO incredibly comfortable. Quite pricy though.

I would recommend a snuggli I tried both the bjorn and the snuggli and the snuggli worked better plus it also works as a back pack carrier so you can use it longer. It is also nice because it has pockets on the front so you don't have to try to carry a purse with you if you are just running a quick trip or out for a stroll.

Oh Jess! I still can't believe that you have a person growing inside you. You're going to be such a fun mom. Keep us all updated. Pictures!!!

Hi Jessica! I think it would be fine if you came on Sunday or Monday if we are still here. If not you could come to the house. The main thing is not to stay too long. I will tell Amy that I said that to you, because she will wonder why you aren't staying very long. Long visits are really exhausting, but she won't realize it until the person leaves. You will expereience that after your baby comes. You will think you are having a great time and then your guests will leave and you will say oh I am soooo tired. Anyway I know she would love to see you!

Jess, I was kind of thinking of visiting Amy if she is still in the hospital on Sunday and maybe bring flowers. I always like to try to visit while people are still in the hospital because hospitals in general are so impersonal. Anyway, I don't know her really well, so if you want to go together let me know. Then maybe she won't think I'm so weird for visiting! I'm also off all day Monday. I'll look for you at church if I don't hear from you...

How is Amy? Were you able to go see her? Let me know. I'll be in Spfld on Saturday for my nephew's baptism. Let me know if we can get together and visit for a while. Love you!

Ahh! Sorry Jess! It was my out-of-state cousins last day in town and I ended up being gone much of the day/evening with them. Did you go see Amy? Maybe we can go when I get off work tomorrow if you haven't already and if she's still there...
I hate to leave my cell number on here but I'll leave my email (I have it up at work most of the day so I'll see pretty quick): jjtoughdoll@aol.com
