Little Adventures

I am a firm believer in adventure and getting out there and seizing the day.  I have learned not to underestimate little adventures.  This weekend, we were driving with the dogs in the back of the truck, and Chad wanted to stop at the river for them to cool off.  I thought it was silly, since we were going to be home in 20 minutes anyway.  But, that short stop turned into a little adventure for our family.  The dogs pranced, Jet stomped, and the boys threw rocks.  It made the weekend feel so much more complete, even though we were only there 15 minutes.  When we went to the lake last month, we were only there 30 minutes, but it added so much to the day.  Whenever Jet and I go on bike rides, we're both so much happier.  Adventure doesn't only apply to the BIG things like climbing Everest, or wild boar hunting or scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef.  Adventure is an enthusiasm for life and wanting to DIVE IN!  It doesn't matter what it is.

So often, when we got out with the dogs, we happen upon something adventurous.  Sprinklers at the school will start pumping and we'll get drenched, or we'll find a new path, or we'll lie down and just look up at the stars.  But, if we hadn't actually left the house, if wouldn't have happened. We're usually only gone 30 minutes.  But just in those 30 minutes, we've created a beloved memory.  The dogs definitely give us that kick to get out.  Big adventures aren't affordable for us right now, and for most people too.  That doesn't matter.  I'm not going to let the little adventures in front of me go by unrealized just because they're little.  Poppycock.  Adventures are exhilarating no matter the size.

Happy doggies, happy us.
